Marcus Rashford of Manchester United will step away from social media

After describing this season as “a challenging one,” Marcus Rashford, the attacker for Manchester United, announced that he is taking a mental vacation from social media in order to “rest and reset.”

Despite scoring eight goals in 43 club games, the 26-year-old was left out of Gareth Southgate’s preliminary 33-man England squad for the European Championship.

A post on X stated, “It’s time to come off Socials for a few weeks,” according to Rashford. “I want to give myself a mental vacation after a trying season for everyone, both personally and professionally.

“I want to thank all of my fans for supporting me during a trying time. For those who are still with us at United, we never leave each other behind.”

Rashford called last month’s criticism of him this season “abuse.”

The number 10 for United responded to a post on X that called the treatment of Marcus Rashford “cruel” and “absolutely disgusting,” saying that the amount of criticism has reached an unbearable level.

“It is abuse and has been for months,” he wrote. “Enough is enough.”

But Rashford’s season concluded on a positive one as United defeated Manchester City 2-1 in the FA Cup final on Saturday, thanks to goals from Alejandro Garnacho and Kobbie Mainoo, two other academy graduates.
