Lando Norris became the 21st driver from the United Kingdom to win a Formula One race at the F1 Miami Grand Prix. Max Verstappen’s streak of six consecutive race wins in the United States was broken by the legendary McLaren driver, who secured the top podium position.
The driver, who started the race at P5, lost a spot on the opening lap. The driver was born in Glastonbury. However, he made a great comeback to challenge Carlos Sainz and eventually win the Safety Car after Logan Sargeant was disqualified from his home race by Kevin Magnussen.
A joyful Lando Norris stated on his radio,
The McLaren driver thanked his colleagues once more before saying,
Max Verstappen, who started the race in pole position, finished in P2, while Ferrari’s Charles Leclerc completed the podium.
Since Abu Dhabi 2021, Norris is the only British driver to win a race since George Russell won his first one in Brazil ’22.
It was, in Lando Norris’ words, a “long time coming” triumph.
At the press conference following the race, Lando Norris, who captured his first Formula One victory, said to Jenson Button that it had been a “long time coming”. The driver, 24, opened out about his emotions following his maiden Formula 1 race victory.
The Papaya team’s driver addressed Button,
He went on to declare that he was “over the moon” at the result.
He went on,
Lando Norris also thanked McLaren for helping him along the way in his Formula One career. He discussed how much he believes in the Papaya team and how they have helped him through good times and bad.
Furthermore, since Daniel Ricciardo’s epic triumph at Monza in 2021, McLaren has not won a race. Can McLaren continue their winning ways and win at Imola in two weeks?
