Max Verstappen, the driver for Red Bull, voiced his displeasure with the way his RB20 was handled after losing the race lead in Miami.
The driver that gained the most from the safety car that was brought in after Logan Sargeant’s incident during the Miami Grand Prix was Lando Norris, who was leading without stopping for pits. Thanks to a quick pit stop, he managed to maintain the lead even after the safety car halted. Many had assumed Verstappen would get to him immediately, but that never happened.
After the first lap of the restart, the three-time Formula One World Champion expressed his displeasure with his vehicle over the team radio. He said:
It was clear that Max Verstappen was not happy with the issues with his car. There might be an aerodynamics issue because it seemed to be difficult for the Dutchman to overtake Lando Norris for the race lead during the Miami Grand Prix.
The McLaren driver won his first Formula One race by a final margin of seven seconds.
After his Miami qualifying performance, Max Verstappen declared the RB20 to be untrustworthy.
Several driver errors occurred during the 2024 Formula One Miami Grand Prix qualifying session. Most of the drivers who qualified for Q3 found it challenging to improve upon their previous lap times.
Max Verstappen revealed that while the vehicle stayed on the circuit regularly, it was a little hit-and-miss after claiming another pole position this season. During the post-qualification conversation, he said:
Despite his difficulties throughout the race, Max Verstappen is now dominating the world championship this season. He has been the team’s grid leader since 2022, but it looks like there is fierce competition this year for the top slot. However, Red Bull continues to lead in both categories, and it’s hard to say if that will change at the end of the race.
