The National Poker Series India 2024, the biggest poker event in India, took place on PokerBaazi and drew 2.3 lac players competing for a prize fund of more than INR 62.5 crore. The rewarded winners were congratulated by well-known Indian cricket star Yuvraj Singh at the Night of Glory series conclusion ceremony in Delhi.
Attendance was further shocked to learn that PokerBaazi’s flagship tournament G.O.A.T., India’s largest poker tournament, would return in 2024 with an enormous INR 25 crore guaranteed prize pool. G.O.A.T. will take place in October 2024 to commemorate the organization’s tenth anniversary.
With a daily prize pool of INR 1 crore, the site also announced the debut of its MoneyMaker series on April 1st, an attempt to maintain the appeal of poker after the National Poker Series India 2024.
The fourth National Poker Series gold medal went to Deepak Singh.
At the 4th National Poker Series, when Deepak Singh of Delhi won three gold, one silver, and one bronze medal, the race for podium spots was more fierce.
Samay Modi of Maharashtra brought home the Bronze medal and finished third in the National Poker Series India 2024, while Abhishek Sonu of Bihar earned the Silver medal. Athletes from Maharashtra lead the state medal count with almost 100 medals won, followed by athletes from Delhi with 81 medals.
Uttar Pradesh, Rajasthan, and Karnataka secured the third, fourth, and fifth positions, respectively, indicating the game’s swift growth and popularity outside of Tier I cities. Players from tier-II cities, including Imphal, Una, Chamba, and Agra, among others, showed an increasing pool of talent with their exceptional performances.
The flagship event in the Indian poker scene, Night of Glory, this year included performances by comedian Abhishek Upmanyu and renowned Bollywood DJ NYK. Poker is one of the mental sports and pop cultural phenomena that has grown the fastest in the country.
